Frequently Asked Questions

Below are our most common tree service FAQs answered by our ISA Certified Arborist.

🌲 Tree Removal FAQs
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?
It depends on your city and the tree’s size. Many cities require permits for removing significant trees or trees over certain trunk diameters. We help you determine whether a permit is needed before scheduling work. For more info, check our tree permit guide here.
Will removing a tree damage my yard?
No. We use controlled rigging, ground protection mats, and careful lowering techniques to protect your lawn and landscaping. Cleanup is always included.
Do you haul away the wood and debris?
Yes. We chip brush, remove logs, and leave the area clean unless you’d like firewood or chips left onsite.
✂️ Tree Pruning FAQs
How often should trees be pruned?
Most trees benefit from pruning every 1–3 years, depending on species, growth rate, and safety concerns around structures.
What are signs a tree needs pruning?
Dead or hanging limbs, branches close to the roof, cracks, storm damage, sagging branches, or low limbs blocking walk paths or driveways.
Is topping trees ever safe?
No. Topping is harmful and shortens a tree’s lifespan. We use ISA-approved alternatives like crown reduction, thinning, and structural pruning.
⚙️ Stump Grinding FAQs
How deep do you grind stumps?
We typically grind 6–12 inches below ground level, depending on whether you plan to replant or install landscaping afterward.
Will stump grinding remove the entire stump?
It removes the visible stump and most of the root flare. Large lateral roots may remain underground but will not regrow.
What happens to the mulch after grinding?
You can keep the mulch for landscaping or we can haul it away. It’s completely up to you.
⛈️ Emergency Tree Service FAQs
What qualifies as a tree emergency?
Fallen trees blocking access, trees on structures, major storm damage, split trunks, uprooted trees, and hanging limbs posing immediate danger.
Do you offer same-day service?
Yes. We prioritize emergencies and can often arrive the same day depending on severity and weather conditions.
