Do You Need A Permit? 

Obtaining a permit can be confusing and frustrating. The best way to learn more about if you need a permit is to contact your local department of planing and development directly.

Chainsaw
Tree Permits

  • Removing large trees (exceptional trees)
  • Construct new buildings around existing trees

  • Remove trees for a building lot
  • Remove street trees
  • Prune street trees

Bellevue - Tree Removal Permit Info -

Bothell - At this time, there are no permits required in Bothell for tree removal.  If removing more than a few trees, a land clearing permit may be required.  In addition, trees on a sensitive slope may require prior approval before they can be cut down.  Questions regarding tree removal can be directed to Amanda Davis at (425) 486-8152 ext. 4487.  

Brier - At this time, no permits are required for tree removal if your property meets the following guidelines:
- The property is under 25,000 square ft
- The tree(s) to be removed are not situated in a wetland or stream buffer (25-100 ft away)
- The property is over 25,000 square ft and the tree(s) to be removed are alder, cottonwood, black locust, willow, or poplar.

A permit is required for tree removal if:
- Your property is over 25,000 square ft, and the tree(s) to be removed are not alder, cottonwood, black locust, willow, or poplar
- The tree(s) to be removed are in a wetland or stream buffer
